The International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) is the leading governing body for the sport of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). Founded in 2008, the IBJJF is dedicated to the growth, development, and promotion of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu around the world.
The IBJJF provides a unified set of rules and regulations for BJJ competitions and also hosts a variety of tournaments and events for competitors of all ages and skill levels. The IBJJF is renowned for its high standards of safety and fair play, ensuring that all of its events are run to the highest standard. As well as providing a safe environment for practitioners, the IBJJF also strives to foster a sense of camaraderie and respect among competitors.
The IBJJF has a strict code of conduct and any violation of this code can result in disqualification. The IBJJF also provides a grading system for practitioners, recognizing their skill level and progress. The grading system consists of white, blue, purple, brown, and black belts, and can be earned through competing in IBJJF-sanctioned tournaments and by training with a certified black belt instructor.
